DOWNTOWN Kolkata and Other Happenings’ is a journey through the socio-cultural, architectural as well as naturalistic landscape of Kolkata, accompanied with a trace of ambiguity. Photographs do not reflect the reality that the eyes see and formed by the photographer’s own imagination, and also often also a result of the serendipity or the accidental chance that the city offers every now and then, making the photographs more connected to the mundane yet magical existence of the spaces around us. Combining history, memory and imagination, the images attempt to communicate a story or a narrative through the chiaroscuro of paradoxical semblances, typical of the city’s metropolitan identity. Besides the perception of my own senses and my conceptualisation, there is the viewer’s understanding and thoughts as well ,as he also asks himself the question, “After all this – now what?”
